![Parking Garage Security](https://www.sonitrolwesterncanada.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Parking%20Garage%20Security.jpeg?width=1200&height=600&name=Parking%20Garage%20Security.jpeg)Protecting your commercial parking facility goes beyond just safeguarding vehicles; it's about ensuring the safety and peace of mind of everyone who uses it. Closed parking lots are prime targets for theft, vandalism, and other criminal activities, posing a significant risk to car owners and their passengers.

In today's landscape, closed parking garages have unfortunately become hunting grounds for criminals, making it imperative for business owners to prioritize the safety and security of their customers and employees. With numerous security options available, finding the right solution tailored to your parking lot's layout can be daunting. That's where [Sonitrol Western Canada](https://www.sonitrolwesterncanada.com/) steps in with expert guidance.

Securing closed parking lots requires specialized attention due to the heightened threat level compared to open lots. Isolated floors and limited visibility make it challenging to implement effective surveillance systems, providing criminals with ample hiding spots. While traditional measures like parking attendants and CCTV cameras offer some level of security, they often fall short, leaving vulnerabilities that can be exploited.

[Verified security solutions](https://www.sonitrolwesterncanada.com/sonitrol-verified-alarms-vs-conventional-alarms) offer a proactive approach to thwarting criminal activity. Unlike conventional CCTV systems that passively record incidents, verified alarms utilize [remote monitoring](https://www.sonitrolwesterncanada.com/central-video-cctv-audio-monitoring) to detect and respond to threats in real time. Live-streamed video feeds enable security professionals at Sonitrol to confirm the validity of alarms swiftly, allowing for [immediate intervention by alerting law enforcement](https://www.sonitrolwesterncanada.com/about-sonitrol/sonitrol-police-relations-verified-buglar-alarms-cctv-cameras-recommended-by-police). This proactive stance not only minimizes potential harm to customers and employees but also increases the likelihood of apprehending criminals.

Sonitrol is renowned for increasing criminal apprehension rates by helping law enforcement identify true security events. This ability is increasingly important as more and more communities adopt Verified Video Surveillance Response policies.

> “The RCMP have been responding extremely quickly because they know with our Sonitrol Live Monitored Video system that these alarms / calls for service are real; and the RCMP want these Individuals off the street as much as we do!”
>
> *David Venator, Zone Manager, Kal Tire*

In addition to verified alarms, several proactive measures can enhance the security of underground garages:

- Strategic Lighting: Ensure comprehensive illumination throughout the facility to eliminate shadowy areas where criminals can conceal themselves.
- Visible Stairwells: Keep interior and exterior stairwells clearly visible by installing transparent barriers or "see-through" walls, deterring potential hiding spots.
- Emergency Communication: Equip the premises with emergency call boxes, panic alarms, and intercom systems to facilitate immediate assistance from parking attendants in case of emergencies.
