# Why Hybrid Offices Need Smart Integrated Access Control

![Office door](https://www.sonitrolwesterncanada.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Office%20door.png?width=1200&name=Office%20door.png)Offices in 2020 have undergone a massive transformation due to the pandemic. With more and more people working from home, many businesses are adopting a hybrid approach to going into the office.

It’s not uncommon for office workers to work a few days from home and a few days in the office, so that the office facility has less people in the building at one time, creating new types of shift workers.

This has resulted in managers rethinking their office security and entry access control.

What businesses today need is an integrated access control system that allows easy management of passcards, and the replacement of keys.

Managed building access control systems, or keyless entry, is one of the easiest, most cost-effective ways for you to increase security. Sonitrol’s Access Control Security delivers that and offers full integration with our other security systems.

With Sonitrol, doors can be programmed to be open on certain shifts.  If our intrusion system is set, the doors will not unlock.  This means if employees do not show up for work the doors will not unlock until the security system is disarmed.  If employees leave early and arm the security system the doors will lock.  With a conventional alarm company - they provide an access system that is not integrated and so the doors will unlock as programmed, even if staff are not on site. This doesn’t adequately protect your facility and property when the unexpected happens.

Sonitrol access management system is integrated with our Sonitrol intrusion detection system so different employees can have different access levels.  Employees who are authorized to open the facility will be allowed access and be able to disarm the security system.  Employees who are not authorized to open the facility will not be allowed access to the facility when the security system is armed.

And because our system is managed remotely at the Sonitrol Monitoring Centre, with just a phone call you can easily make changes to the access system, at any time 24x7. For example you can add employees, delete employees, change access levels and door locking/unlocking shifts. All without needing to be on-site or to program devices. We can do it for you!

### **Increase Your Security Controls**

When you upgrade your office security you’ll benefit from having your mechanical locks and keys replaced with electronic locks, badges or cards and readers and that will give you a lot of control over the security of the entire system.

- Our technology eliminates the expense of re-keying or changing locks when an employee leaves.
- Users/employees are less likely to set off false alarms.
- Automatically regulating access reduces the need for on-site security personnel.
- The system allows for temporary access by visitors and vendors.
- Access control decreases your liability and risk.

With Sonitrol, specific areas may be accessed through individual key cards allowing you to track and control activity in and out of sensitive zones of your facility.

With all the recent changes to work schedules, shifts, addition of contract workers, and more, it’s time to make sure your access control security is adaptable, robust, and smart.
