Creative Technology thanks Sonitrol for assisting to capture a criminal in their store

"Several years ago we purchased a Sonitrol Verified Audio Detection system knowing that it was the best system available to protect our highly desirable Apple Computers. Subsequently, when we started experiencing problems with individuals presenting us with stolen credit cards and fraudulent identification, you recommended that we install duress buttons that could be used to initiate a police dispatch should we be confronted again by someone perpetrating a criminal act.

 

Last week an individual entered our store and purchased goods and a gift certificate with what appeared to be a valid credit card. However, we were subsequently informed by the bank that the credit card had been stolen. Two days later the same individual returned to exchange for refund the computer that he had purchased, and, without his knowledge, we pressed the duress button.

 

Sonitrol received the button signal and this also opened the audio channel to the central Station, allowing them to hear and record what was happening in the store. And, more importantly, they dispatched Halton Regional Police.

 

The police arrived within minutes. and the suspect was arrested and found to be in possession of multiple items of false identification and a stolen credit card.
