"We are an equipment sales and service company who prior to employing Sonitrol in the fall of 2008, experienced 13 break-ins with an additional eight vandalism attacks on our business. The losses to our 2-year-old business were approaching 65,000.00. It was getting to the point that we seriously considered shutting our business down.

 

We had a monitored security system in place that had been modified several times to become more effective. The issue seemed to be the large time lapse between the breach and the time we were called. Each time, we had to direct the alarm company to send the police, and on at least two occasions, the police would not respond because the breach was not verified so someone had to come to the shop first. By the time the RCMP arrived it was anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes after the initial breach and the thieves were long gone.

 

In frustration, we contacted the RCMP, the Mayors office, both provincial and federal government offices and the media to organize a meeting with us and several other business owners who had also experienced break-ins, in an effort to get someone’s attention to start catching the criminals who were targeting our businesses.

 

We had heard of Sonitrol but were skeptical that they were just another alarm company, and the issues would be the same. We asked about Sonitrol at this meeting, and the RCMP explained that with conventional alarms; by the time they are called to attend, it is 10 to 20 minutes after the break-in and the thieves are long gone. The first week we went live with Sonitrol we had a drive through break-in. The thieves were only on-site for 2 minutes… and the police were on-site in 3 minutes. We had never experienced a police response like that before.

 

After this drive through break-in, Mike McDonald said you felt sorry for us, especially after so many break-ins… so you lent me a FREE Sonavision system to use in an effort to catch the bad guys before they got into my building.

 

Last night your staff dispatched the police to a loser who was knocking out one of the cameras. Because of the motion sensors, Sonitrol was able to capture video of the perp before he destroyed that camera, and long before he attempted to gain entrance to the building. Because the call to RCMP Dispatch was verified, the police responded immediately and were on site in under 1 minute! A person of interest was apprehended soon after only a short distance from my business. The perp did NOT gain access to our building and we only had to replace a camera. Sonitrol’s technicians were on site by 10:00AM.
