Welcome, readers, to the official Sonitrol Commercial Security Blog!

Thank you for joining us and please allow me to introduce myself. Joe Wilson here. I will be blogging on behalf of Sonitrol Western Canada to engage and inspire discussion and thought on a variety of security related topics.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on my posts. Feel free to drop me a line at any time.

The Sonitrol Commercial Security Blog will contain commentary and information on understanding criminals, stopping and catching criminals, security, protection, integrated technology solutions and everything in between.

About Joe Wilson - Owner of Sonitrol Western Canada

Now, for a little bit about myself. In my immediate past life, I was Director of Security with Molson and Labatt Breweries retail and wholesale division Brewers Retail (BRI). With 460 retail, 20 distribution facilities, 20 regional offices and a corporate office, BRI was challenged with numerous armed robberies and break-ins. I was introduced to verified security by Metro Toronto Police and knew that it might be the key to solving BRI’s crime issues. After instituting verified security in 100 BRI facilities, break-in losses dropped from $1.4 million to $36,000 and armed robberies dropped from 5 per week to zero. From that point on, I saw the light. If verified only security could work for them, it could benefit truck loads of other businesses.

I moved to British Columbia in 2000 to bring Sonitrol verified electronic security into Western Canada at the request of companies such as Canadian Tire, Adidas, Costco, Public Works Canada, Ryder Logistics, Keg Restaurants, Synnex Computers and Gateway. Since then, I have enjoyed the chance to solve security challenges of hundreds of companies. I have my fair share of stories – the good, the bad and the down right crazy, to share.

Available for Speaking Engagements and Conferences to Talk About Commercial Security

To compliment my work at Sonitrol, I also work as a security consultant and regularly host training symposiums for law enforcement agencies, insurance companies, security consultants and private companies. When it comes to understanding and catching criminals, I have seen and done my fair share. My training and expertise allows me to reach out and share knowledge on:

  • How criminals gain entry to facilities without tripping conventional alarms
  • How to make facilities more physically secure
  • What to look for in a criminal
  • How police react to alarms and the implementation of verified only police response.

That's all for now. Look for my next post soon.
