Adidas Store Manager reports successful capture of intruders by Edmonton Police in response to Sonitrol security alarm

"I wanted to send you a quick letter to thank the Edmonton Police Services and the Sonitrol Dispatch Team for their efforts on Sunday morning.

 

On Sunday morning at 4:10am 2 thieves broke a very small window in our store. Your dispatch centre heard the breaking of this window and immediately dispatched Edmonton Police.

 

When I arrived, I was met by 6 marked cruisers and the two thieves in custody, what a quick response. On reviewing our digital recorder I can see the thieves break the window with a shovel and one enter our store. Within a couple of minutes the police arrive in mass and arrested the 2 thieves. I was surprised to see so many police cars, as we all hear how understaffed police are and how false alarms make it challenging for them to respond to alarms promptly.

 

The officers advised that they always respond promptly to Sonitrol’s calls for service as you are verified and have very few false alarms. If we were protected by a conventional alarm the response would have been slow and these 2 would not have been apprehended.

 

What a partnership in reducing crime, Sonitrol and Edmonton Police, please pass my thank-you along to both."
