"As you know, we are a construction and development company who have had developments across North America. We have had difficulties protecting our sites against vandals, as well as professional thieves who steal wire and equipment. We have tried dogs and guards and have found both to be ineffective and very expensive.

 

Sonitrol was accepted by our proactive insurance broker who approved the use of Sonavision to protect our construction site in Surrey. Our broker accepted Sonavision, because it is a monitored video system that utilizes infrared cameras and exterior head and motion sensors to detect unauthorized entry to our site. From a management point of view, we also have the ability to watch our site remotely to review daily progress.

 

I am pleased to report that on Sunday morning at 3am I received a phone call from Sonitrol to advise that they had dispatched RCMP to apprehend a person on our site. I immediately dialed into the site remotely from Houston, Texas and watched as multiple officers arrived and apprehended a man who had cut a large power supply cable that powers our overhead crane. It was reassuring to be able to watch live as the thief attempted to hide from the officers. I was later told that the officers were directed by Sonitrol operators on where to find the thief.

 

I highly recommend using Sonitrol to protect construction sites. I also want to recommend the services of Dee Glen of Johnston Meier Insurance 604-639-6337 who was able to get Sonitrol approved as a “Night Watchman” to satisfy our Insurance Company. This is a security system that works, and an insurance broker who is proactive! Our sites are now properly protected, we get a prompt police response and we are saving the cost of ineffective security – all while having the operational gains of remote viewing.
