City of Surrey uses Sonitrol active audio to monitor security of outdoor pools

"I would like to take a few moments to express my satisfaction with the service we have had with Sonitrol Security Professionals over the last two years.
In the winter of 2006/2007, the City of Surrey Outdoor Pools were broken into on three occasions by metal thieves. On each of these occasions, significant damage was done to the piping and electrical components of the boiler rooms. There was a great deal of work to be done by city staff and contractors, at significant monetary expense, to ensure the pools were repaired and opened in time for the swimming public.
After consultation with the RCMP and our Risk Management Department, we contracted Sonitrol to provide active audio listening at the eight Outdoor Pool locations. The results were seen immediately, with Sonitrol working with the RCMP and the City to prevent break-ins at Greenaway and Port Kells Pools. In addition, we have had two incidents this august that required RCMP attendance at Kwantlen Pool. On one of these occasions, several trespassers had started a fire, which thanks to Sonitrol’s prompt call the speedy response from RCMP, was put out before damage could occur.
Please pass along my thanks to the Sonitrol staff for their continued service, as well as to the RCMP, both for recommending Sonitrol, as well as for their excellent response times for incidents in our facilities."
