Partnerships with law enforcement and a history of catching over 175,000 criminals!
Sonitrol is a North American company known today for detecting burglars and criminals, had its roots in pest control of a different sort in the late 1950s, when an Indiana exterminator inadvertently became an inventor after he installed microphones within the walls of a building to listen for termites and pinpoint their location.
After inventing other audio detection devices in a similar vein, he incorporated “Sonitrol” from the words sound and control, to manufacture and market his innovative products.
In 1963, that inventor met a local police officer and alarm company owner frustrated with ineffective systems that all too often allowed perpetrators to escape without being apprehended. Together, the two developed audio sensor technology that worked better in tandem with law enforcement, resulting in quicker response times and high apprehension rates.
This ability has become increasingly important as communities adopt Verified Alarm Response policies. We fully support the implementation of verified-only police response. Our very low 3% false alarm rate and our valued police partnerships, is why the police hurry up to our alarms.
This technology has now led Sonitrol to have apprehended over 175,000 criminals!
More than 180 cities throughout the United States and Canada use a more advanced version of that technology today. Sonitrol is the third largest commercial security company in North America — and the leader in verified electronic audio and video security.
