# How Sonitrol Protects Construction Site Assets

![Construction Site Security](https://www.sonitrolwesterncanada.com/hubfs/Sonitrol%20Const1200%20shutterstock_761907331-1.jpg)

“Over $15,000 worth of construction equipment has been recovered and a Hope man has been arrested after RCMP received a call from a resident about a ‘prowler’ at a local construction site. Earlier this month, Hope RCMP said they received a call from a resident about copper wire allegedly stolen from a construction site in the 300-block of Fort Street. The same resident called police again on April 10 to report someone at the site.” Apr. 29, 2020, The Chilliwack Progress

It’s great that in the Chilliwack case the RCMP was able to recover stolen property based on a resident tip-off, but that isn’t always the outcome...

Crime at construction sites is often local News but it’s not new. Construction sites are storeholds of expensive equipment and materials and they have been a target for thieves throughout time.

According to a recent industry article in ConstructionConnect, “Stealing construction equipment is a low-risk, high-reward opportunity for thieves, especially on unsecured construction sites. Less than 25% of stolen construction equipment is recovered each year.” The author went on to say that the value of construction equipment stolen each year is estimated to be between $300 million to $1 billion. But that doesn’t include materials such as copper and costly hand tools.

Construction site security is paramount and that doesn’t mean hiring a few security guards and putting in some CCTV cameras. Construction sites have a high risk of theft of uninstalled materials, equipment (such as copper cables), and installed materials, such as copper wire & pipes just ripped out of walls. You have valuable equipment to protect and schedules to meet - security is top of mind. It's worth it to invest in a proven construction site security.

**Why Chose Sonitrol for Construction Site Security**

- Our Sonitrol Construction Site Security Solution, doesn't just record break-ins and theft, we also immediately alert the police and they will respond quickly to catch the intruders! (We have an average 3.5 minute response time across North America!).
- Our unique [SonaVision verified video](https://www.sonitrolwesterncanada.com/sonavision), monitors the perimeter and interior of the construction site and is activated by highly sensitive motion and heat controls to detect thieves and vandals. (This system is vastly superior to the average CCTV solutions.)
- Our verified construction site security solution is also better than having expensive guards, who can sleep through the night or even leave the site, so we have developed programmable video guard tours.
- We can give video access for your own supervision (WCB compliant), so you can record shipments and deliveries and watch job progress and day-to-day work.
- Storage container security using active audio and door contacts.

We have decades of experience helping Construction Superintendents, Property Developers, Construction Contractors, Builders, secure their building site and protect company assets.

**"I’m sold on your technology and happy to tell any other contractors how well this verified system works." Jim De Vos, Site Superintendent, Bogner Construction**

**"Please pass our thanks along to your monitoring team and the VPD dispatchers and officers for their excellent response!" Jack Lai, Rize Alliance Properties**

**"Hopefully our actions and those of the RCMP will deter future criminal activity and make Surrey a safer community." Randy Urban, Timber Creek, EllisDon**
